The Director, Public Buildings, Arc Adebowale Ademo has unveiled Arc.Fater Awuna Imande as the overall winner of the in-house design competition organized by the department for the proposed FCDA Staff Housing Scheme. Arc Fater scored 74.28% while Arc Mansur Ahmed Yusuf emerged the first runner up with 58.69%. Both of them were rewarded with cash prizes and certificates.

Speaking During the unveiling, the Director reveled that it was the first major competition in the history of the department and that it was informed by the need to redesign existing public buildings in the city and also have designs for future use.

He added that though about 100 entries were expected based on the number of Architects in the department, 15 were received. Out of the number, three were selected while another three who scored above 40% were given letters of mention.

He noted that the guidelines adopted for the competition were of international standard and were meticulously followed through by the 5-man Jury constituted for the purpose he therefore challenged the staff of the department to aspire to participate in international competitions through the window of opportunities available at the department.

The Director enjoined the staff to ensure they register with their respective professional bodies as the department would give them all necessary support and assistance to that effect.He stated that there shall also be competitions for each of the professions in the department and the winners would be rewarded. In his words, “We look forward to building a team of professionals who will be our innovation drivers to identify high flyers.”

          The Director charged them to imbibe Courtesy, Integrity, honesty, transparency, dependability and reliability, stating that these are the virtues of core values to the department.
