“Abuja would not have been what it is today without the contributions of those that have come, have held sway, made their contributions and have retired. I want to, on behalf of the FCDA Management and staff, thank each and everyone of you for services rendered to FCDA”
Those were the words of the Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Engr Richard Yunana Dauda during a valedictory session organised by the Executive Management Committee (EMC) on Friday 16th May, 2025, for six of their colleagues who retired from service recently.
The Executive Secretary remarked that the development of Abuja has been a very successful journey, a feat he said has been locally and internationally acclaimed, adding that though the city’s development may not be up to the expected percentage yet, what has been achieved so far was commendable.
“We may not have achieved what we in our own eyes should have in terms of the percentage of development of the city, but what has been achieved is really commendable and it comes with the contributions of each and everyone here “, he said.
Other members of the EMC who took turns to speak lauded what they described as the selfless service rendered by their retired colleagues and wished them in their retirement.
Responding individually, the retirees expressed appreciation for the honour done them and for the support and cooperation extended to them by their colleagues still in service, without which they said, not much would have been achieved by them.
They urged the FCDA management to make a deliberate effort to train and retain a critical mass of professionals to ensure continuous availability of requisite skills and expertise in the system.
The valedictory session was in honour of the following six members of the Executive Management Committee (EMC):
- Alhaji Aminu Aliyu Gaya, immediate past Director, Human Resources Management
