FCDA’s Executive Secretary Reiterates Authority’s Commitment To Enhanced Service Delivery

“Our first mandate as public servants is service delivery to the people. If we are not getting it, we need to look at areas of improvement, and areas where we can collaborate to see where we can meet the needs of the people on service delivery “

Those were the words of the Executive Secretary, Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Engr Richard Yunana Dauda, when he received a delegation from the FCT Ministerial Servicom Unit, led by the Director, Tam Dokubo, on an advocacy visit to FCDA on Wednesday.

The Executive Secretary noted that the FCDA tries as much as possible to meet the needs of the people in terms of service delivery in line with the Authority’s mandate. According to him, ” In FCDA, we try as much as possible to  meet the needs of the people in line with the mandate that we have, building a new City; the tempo is dependent  on what we are doing, how much funds we get, how much budget we get. I am sure you can see that the first two years of this Administration has been more of infrastructure delivery.”

He said the FCDA has been delivering a number of projects, which to him was part of service delivery, noting however, that there were rooms for improvement. “In terms of projects delivery, projects have been delivered and they are opened to public use.  To my mind, I think that is part of service delivery. But of course, there are always rooms for improvement”, he stated.

Speaking further, the Executive Secretary canvassed for more funding to the FCDA to enable it improve on its service delivery effort, saying, “Help us advocate for more funding so that service can be improved. Well, it is an advocacy visit, you have presented your case, and we have heard you. Our strong points, we will make them stronger, and our weak points, we will address them and see how we can deliver the desired service to the people”

In a remark, the Director, FCT Ministerial Servicom Unit, Tam Dokubo said his office had a Ministerial directive to visit all FCT’s Secretariats, Departments and Agencies (SDAs) to ensure that Servicom Units are properly constituted in each of them for proper service delivery by the Administration.
