Election of FCDA Staff as Architects’ President, Treasurer

The Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Engr Richard Yunana Dauda, has described the election of two staff of the Authority into the National Executive Council of the Nigerian Institute of Architects ( NIA) and others who had served as National Treasurers at different times, as a demonstration of the confidence reposed on the Authority by the Institute.

The NIA had in its annual Conference recently, elected Arc. Sani Ihtisham Saulawa and Arc. Moses N. Ajah, both of the FCDA, as the National President and Treasurer respectively. Also, two former Directors of the Public Buildings department of the FCDA, Architects Celestine Sunday Eze and Roberts Unde were former National Treasurers of the Institute.

While congratulating all the newly elected Executive Council members of the NIA, the Executive Secretary commended them and other professionals, both in the private and public sector, for their sundry contributions towards the city’s development. He described Abuja as a beautiful and functional city comparable to any other in the world.

The Executive Secretary made the remarks on Tuesday while playing host to a delegation from the Institute, led by the President, on a courtesy visit to his office. He described the Abuja project as an ongoing one, where a lot still needs to be done. He added that new ideas and functionality was required from all professionals, as according to him, together produces good results. He assured his visitors that in line with its mandate, the Authority would support them to succeed.

Speaking earlier, Arc. Sani expressed gratitude to the FCDA for the support and mentorship given him which he said propelled him to be involved in the Institute’s affairs and eventually becoming the President and for the election of other members from the Abuja Chapter into the national Executive Council.

He said his Institute was ready to partner the FCDA in the areas of the procurement of designs and capacity building for its staff, among others.
