Wike Rounds off 20-Day Project Flag-Offs, Commissioning, Praises FCTA Workers

“I thank everyone working with the Federal Capital Territory Administration. You have done well. Stand tall and be proud of your efforts. You have broken records. Wherever you go, carry your shoulders high and tell anyone who doubts it that the FCT is working.”

Those were the words of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike on Tuesday while commissioning the newly provided Engineering infrastructure in Wuye District, in the Phase 2 of the Federal Capital City (FCC).  While requesting workers of the Administration in the gathering to stand up for an applause by the audience, the Minister acknowledged and commended them for their roles in the execution and completion of projects.

He remarked that the Wuye District infrastructure had been awarded in 2009, due to budgetary challenges is now only being completed by the President Tinubu administration in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Nigerians.

The Minister noted that this commissioning marked the 20th day of project flag-offs/Commissioning, a feat he described as unprecedented. “If there is any administration since the creation of the Federal Capital Territory that has done more than what we are doing, let them speak up now. The silence says it all. This is leadership that is committed, leadership that is changing lives. Twenty days of commissioning is not two days. We will rest briefly and return for the education sector. It will take another 20 days to show what we have achieved there”, he said.

He expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support to the FCT Administration, which he said had resulted in the execution and completion of very many landmark projects including the Wuye District infrastructure, thus making the District now fully developed.

While presenting the overview of the roads flagged- off for construction or commissioning, the Executive Secretary, Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Engr. Richard Yunana Dauda noted that the roads would provide unhindered access to residential and commercial plots in the areas, improve response to security challenges by security agencies , promote socio-economic lives and open up the benefitting Districts.

The Executive Secretary added that the roads would enhance traffic flow, attract both local and international investors to Abuja, and that during construction, the roads would also provide both direct and indirect jobs to residents. He thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the FCT Minister, Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike for the opportunity given to FCDA to be part of project execution in the city.
